Governor Gavin Newsom announced that hair and nail salons and barbershops are allowed to open outdoors. The new guidelines also allow skin care and massage services to operate outdoors.
The County’s health order that would have allowed indoor hair and nail salon and other services to reopen was pre-empted by the governor’s order that banned most indoor activities starting on July 15th . Because of an increase of COVID-19 patients in hospitals, Santa Clara County was put on a state monitoring list along with other Bay Area counties. Today, however, the governor agreed with many owners of personal care services that they can resume in an outdoor setting with safety precautions in place.
